1. Scope and Operator
This Privacy Policy applies to TeichAI, the owner and operator of Teichat ("TeichAI", "Teichat", "we", "our", or "us"). It explains how we collect, use, disclose, and retain personal information when you access or use the service, including account registration, chat features, file uploads, and optional third-party integrations.
TeichAI is the data controller or business responsible for personal information processed through Teichat, except where another party is expressly identified in a separate written agreement.
2. Information We Collect
Account and Profile Information
- Email address
- Display name or profile name you choose to provide
- Hashed password for password-based accounts
- Third-party sign-in identifiers and profile details, such as Hugging Face account identifiers and usernames, when enabled
- Your account-level privacy preference for whether newly created chats may be marked as eligible for training export
Content You Submit
- Prompts, chat messages, and AI-generated responses stored in your chat history
- Chat titles, timestamps, selected model, chat-level training-export eligibility, tool-call metadata, assistant timeline data, and other conversation state needed to render, resume, or export chats
- Images or other files you upload, plus file metadata such as content hash, storage key, upload time, and ownership information
- Search queries and search results when you enable web search or similar tools
Usage and Security Information
- Usage-log entries, including prompt, completion, and total token counts, used to measure consumption and enforce rate or fairness limits
- Authentication and session data, including signed tokens and cookies necessary to keep you signed in and to secure account-linking flows
- Technical request metadata that our hosting, storage, CDN, logging, and security providers may process automatically, such as IP address, user agent, and request timestamps
3. Sources of Information
We collect information:
- Directly from you when you create an account, submit prompts, upload files, or contact us
- From third-party identity providers when you sign in or link an account through an enabled OAuth integration
- Automatically from your use of the service and from the infrastructure used to host, secure, and operate it
4. How We Use Information
We use personal information to:
- Create and manage accounts, authenticate users, and maintain secure sessions
- Store chats, render conversation history, support uploads, and provide requested features
- Apply your privacy settings, including whether newly created chats are marked as eligible for training export
- Transmit prompts, images, and related context to third-party AI model providers to generate responses
- Send search queries to third-party search providers when you enable search features
- If you opt in, include newly created chats marked as eligible in training-data exports for model training
- Prevent abuse, enforce usage limits, monitor reliability, and protect the service and other users
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms, policies, and acceptable use rules
We may apply separate downstream review or filtering processes to training exports in an effort to remove API keys, credentials, and other sensitive data before those exports are used for training. Those efforts are not a guarantee that all sensitive data will be detected or removed.
5. How We Disclose Information
We may disclose personal information to the following categories of recipients:
- AI model and inference providers that process prompts, uploads, and conversation context on our behalf or at your direction
- Search providers that process search queries and return search results when search is enabled
- Identity and OAuth providers used for sign-in or account-linking features
- Hosting, database, storage, caching, logging, security, and infrastructure vendors that support the service
- Professional advisors, regulators, law enforcement, or transaction counterparties where required or permitted by law
Unless we state otherwise in a separate written notice, we do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
6. Cookies and Similar Technologies
Teichat uses cookies and similar technologies that are reasonably necessary to operate the service, keep you signed in, protect account actions, and support OAuth or account-linking flows. Some hosting or infrastructure providers may also use logs, cache headers, and similar technologies for security, performance, and troubleshooting.
7. Data Retention
We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy, including to provide the service, maintain security, resolve disputes, enforce agreements, and satisfy legal obligations.
- Account information is typically retained while your account remains active and for a reasonable period afterward
- Chats, uploads, stored conversation state, and chat-level training-export eligibility are generally retained until you delete them, your account is deleted, or TeichAI removes them under its retention rules
- Usage and security logs may remain for abuse prevention, operational analytics, backup, and audit purposes even if older entries are no longer needed for active rate limiting
- Deleted data may persist for a limited period in backups, caches, and disaster-recovery systems before those systems rotate out the data
8. Data Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational measures designed to protect personal information. These measures may include hashed passwords, access controls, signed session tokens, file-type validation, and restricted access to user-owned resources. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
9. International Processing
Depending on where Teichat and its third-party model, storage, identity, and search providers operate, your information may be processed in countries other than where you live. Where required, TeichAI will use appropriate safeguards for international transfers.
10. Your Rights and Choices
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export, or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You may also have the right to appeal a denial of a privacy request.
- You may delete individual chats and uploaded files through available product controls
- You may change your privacy setting in Settings to control whether chats you create in the future are marked as eligible for training export; existing chats keep their current status
- You may unlink supported third-party accounts where that feature is available
- You may delete your account from Settings using your authenticated session
- For legal rights requests, contact TeichAI using the support channel made available for the service
We may need to verify your identity before fulfilling certain requests, and we may deny or limit a request where permitted by law.
11. Account and Content Deletion
You can delete individual chats and their associated messages at any time through the application interface. You can also delete uploaded files through Settings. Permanently deleting your account from Settings removes your chats, uploads, usage history, and account information.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The updated version will be posted here with a revised "Last updated" date. If we make material changes, we may also provide additional notice through the service or by another reasonable method where required by law.
13. Contact
Questions, complaints, and privacy requests should be sent to TeichAI using the support contact, legal notice, or other contact information provided with the service.
